Optional Activity: The Jesse Tree
In the first few pages of the book, Ann Voskamp introduces to us the idea of creating a “Jesse Tree.” This is an optional activity that goes along with your devotions that you do each day. The Jesse Tree is a small tree filled with ornaments that represent bible stories about the lineage of Christ. An ornament is added each day as you anticipate Christmas Day. When you create a Jesse Tree, it is as if you are creating the family tree of Jesus Christ.
- Your tree can be a silhouette of a tree (sewn, painted, cut from fabric, quilted, etc.) or it could be a small evergreen or branches in a
vase. - The ornaments can be downloaded from this website: http://www.tyndale.com/web/greatestgift
- The password for the website is JESSE
- You can cut out these ornaments and “dress them up” however you want. Keep it simple or get
creative...it’s your Jesse Tree! - Each day, place the ornament on the tree that corresponds with that day’s bible reading/devotion from your book.
Again, this is an OPTIONAL activity.
